Whether you're an interior designer, a stylist, a decor enthusiast, or a homeowner—it's inevitable to fall into a styling rut. It can be a real struggle to wake up to the same bedding or living room daily, badly wanting to change how it looks—but not knowing where or how to start.

If your home is trapped in the same interior design limbo, here are a few things you can do to get it back on track:

1. Buy a small but unexpected décor item

Sometimes, stepping outside of your comfort zone forces you to challenge yourself. Even if your new piece doesn’t match the rest of your space, go for it and find ways to incorporate it into your aesthetic—you never know, you might end up learning new styling tricks.

2. Go to a store you've never been to before

If you’re feeling a little uninspired, a trip to the mall might just get your creative juices flowing. Visiting a new shop can help you see things with a fresh perspective—take in the colors, the materials and how they put different pieces together then apply the pro-approved tips to your home, too.

3. Add a wild pop of color

Instead of going with the norm of adding color in moderation, surprise yourself by going for a combination of bold colors in your home. Having an out-of-the-box element will drive you to move a few pieces around and accessorize to pull the look together.

4. Browse interior design websites and look through home tours

There’s nothing like looking at beautiful spaces to motivate you to dress up your own. Be inspired by the different styles, characters and elements found in every home—don’t forget to save a few photos as pegs, too!

5. Add a few planters

Bringing in plants into any space is a no-fail styling tip. Just one or two planters can go a long way in sprucing up the home, especially if you’re able to pick the right green wonders to grow.
