Take note of our decorating tips for a cozy and charming home

Just like many soon-to-wed couples preparing for their new life together, JB and Aissa Panganiban purchased a 30sqm condo right before their February 2014 wedding. However, they eventually realized that their would-be first home as a married pair might be a little too small for them. Their one-bedroom condo was rather tight, cramped, and verging on uncomfortable.

Thankfully, JB and Aissa had another option: an 86sqm unit owned by Aissa's grandfather. Since it was nearly thrice the size of their other place, it was a better choice for them. With the help of interior designer Elaine Isip-Tiangco, the two-bedroom place has been turned into a country-inspired home.

Here are the 5 things that we can learn from JB and Aissa's newlywed nest:

Paint walls and furniture

For a dainty and charming look, you can also opt for white walls and white furniture pieces! You can spend a weekend repainting your walls and some of your seats, tables, and other belongings.

Choose unique shelves

If you are bored with the look of simple wall-mounted shelves, you can consider using abaca ropes of different lengths. Just drill in metal hooks on the ceiling and shelves and use these to attach the abaca ropes.

RL Tip: You can also find similar shelves at Urban Abode at CW Home Depot, Ortigas.

Opt for wood-like floor tiles

Another way to stay true to classic country style is to install wooden flooring materials. However, if you find solid wood expensive, you can stick to tiles that mimic the color and texture of real wood! You can find wood-like floor tiles at major home depots in Metro Manila.

Invest in pendant lamps and Windsor chairs

To make the space even more perfect, you should save up for enamel-coated pendant lamps and traditional wooden chairs.

RL Tip: You can purchase similar pendant lamps at Azcor, SM Megamall. You can also find similar wooden chairs in Angeles, Pampanga.

Say goodbye to stainless-steel fixtures

If you look around your home and still think that something is missing, you should consider replacing standard stainless steel fixtures with brass faucets and shower heads. These rustic and old-fashioned pieces are ideal choices for country-inspired dwellings.

RL Tip: You can also find brass (and even gold-plated!) kitchen and bathroom fixtures at major home depots in Metro Manila.
