Given the limited space, it would be difficult to add pieces that will help you separate areas at home. In an open plan layout, a patterned wallpaper can anchor either a dining or living area.
If you live in a rented space, consider using fabrics as temporary wallpapers as it will be easier to remove.

Instead of drawing attention to a blank space, a built-in closet or wall decorated with decals is a great alternative. Decals look neater than other decorative elements as they aren't mounted.

If you have a compact living area, you can purchase one furniture piece instead of trying to fit in the whole gamut of living area staples. Choose a sectional sofa that fits in a small space, and is sturdy enough for the long haul.

Dark colors are not forbidden in small spaces. You just have to balance it out with light colors. If you own a wooden wall panel, choose cushions and pillows in soft cream colors.

Make your room feel spacious by selecting a color palette that welcomes an airy space. Try painting your ceiling with a light shade of blue to make your room appear a bit bigger.
You may also experiment with beige if white is too plain for you. Beige can add depth to a small room—especially if you pair it with wooden furniture.
