5 Easy Organizing Must-Dos for Craft Lovers

Practice your art with these quick tips


Whether you're working on DIY decor or a minor home improvement project, it pays to have all your tools in one place. If you stand up often to get a pair of scissors or extra materials, chances are, you might lose your focus and even your momentum, too.

A crafty corner—whether it's in your bedroom, an unused space, or a spot in your living area—can help you work efficiently, especially if it's kept clean and organized. It will also give you a special place where you can display your work and feel inspired. Get ready with your ideas and achieve a lovely corner with these pegs and tips:

If you only have a small space to work with, the best solution would be to maximize vertical space. Install three towel rods, attach big, metal S-hooks, and start hanging containers. Your containers can be a recycled shower caddy for pens and coloring materials and small metal pails for mini trinkets. 

To add life to this part of your work area, you can also include pots of greens and blooms.

Working on a major overhaul? Start with your cabinets! Choose ones with glass doors so you can easily spot the contents and get what you need easily. If these pieces seem too plain for you, you can always spruce it up with decals and washi tape.

You may also choose to use the space as storage for your tools and supplies. If you already have an existing work area or home office, use the extra nook as a command center! Place a cabinet where you can keep paper, paint, brushes, and other things that you might need.

If you're into different arts and crafts, install a pegboard where you can hang and display your tools. Allot a space on the wall for a corkboard so you can display printouts, inspiration, and some of your work.

RL Tip: Those with an extra space to work with can also add a table for printers and extra shelves for jars, organizers, and small baskets.

There are times when we often switch work areas—depending on where inspiration strikes. Sometimes, the bedroom feels so comfortable or we stay in the garden to get some creativity boost. Times like these, we need a trusty piece that can help us move our things from one place to another. A movable cart with multiple tiers is the answer!

Segregate your things according to use—coloring, painting, papercutting, and the like. Allot one tier for each hobby or category so you know where to get or return the items. This is also an ideal storage option if you live in a compact apartment.
