Nothing compares to the happiness a shared meal brings. Whether you look forward to breakfast sessions with Dad or hearty lunches with the whole family—these sweet moments must be treasured and celebrated in a bright and cheerful space.

While the dining room also functions as a storage nook and work area, a little effort put into making it extra inviting can go a long way. Plan your project and personalize your space with these ideas we loved from some of our featured homes:

1. Display cute coasters and quirky accessories.

Even if you have a small dining area, you can still update its look with a combination of colorful must-haves and interesting picks. For this dining space, the designers opted to liven up the table with coasters and placemats reminiscent of board games as well as vintage-inspired candleholders. These accessories add character and warmth to the tiny area.

Find cute coasters at Typo, Greenbelt 5 and H&M Home, SM Makati.

2. Spruce up the walls with postcards and prints.

Given the open layout of this studio unit, it became crucial to define the areas without using partitions. To add color and brighten up this corner, interior designer Tala Singson used prints and postscards as wall accents. You can also achieve a similar feel sans frames with your DIY skills! Select the prints you want to display and stick them to the wall using washi tape or plain masking tape.

RL Tip: There are no strict rules when it comes to this hack. Remember to create a balanced look and choose only four to five prints to keep the corner from being cramped.

3. Paint small woven baskets.

We've seen shelves in different shapes and sizes—wall-mounted, geometric, and more! Make the wall near your dining area extra functional by showcasing catchalls, plants, and other knickknacks. Work on a vintage appeal by painting mini woven baskets gold or silver. These will surely sparkle and catch the attention of guests. Use these to store tiny essentials and small dining accessories.

4. Turn old jars and teacups into decor.

If you love collecting teacups and old ceramic jars, bring these out and use your favorites as wall decor. Use a metal rack or a wooden cubby shelf—choose one that matches your home's aesthetic—to hold the delicate pieces and install it on the wall. Complete the look with scented candles or potted herbs to give your dining area a calming vibe.

5. Update your dinnerware.

Do you often use white plates and bowls at home? Make every meal feel like a huge celebration by investing in lovely dinnerware. Go timeless by opting for pieces in earth tones or make it playful with plates in lively hues. Don't forget to check and update your placemats, utensils, and glasses as well for a cohesive look.
