5 Decorating Ideas to Steal from Heart Evangelista’s Classic QC Townhouse

Invest in art, a few elegant touches, and unexpected details

The first time we featured Heart Evangelista’s home, it was a high-rise unit with Victorian elements, a neutral palette, hardwood furniture, and a view of the Makati city skyline. A lot has happened since then and Heart has had her fair share of ups and downs—a rollercoaster journey filled with milestones and memorable experiences.

Before becoming Mrs. Chiz Escudero, Heart moved into a townhouse in Quezon City. The same classic feel is still evident—as she completed the space with neutral walls, sophisticated furniture, and chic accessories. Here are five ideas that we can learn from the actress' new house and how you can apply it in your home sweet home:

Choose an open layout

The living and dining areas in Heart’s home look spacious since one area flows freely to the next. We can only imagine that this layout enables the homeowner to entertain guests while enjoying a meal.

When it comes to your own home, you can also work with an open layout and separate the different areas using a rug or wall decals, if possible. You can also use big furniture pieces as “dividers.”

Create a streamlined look in the kitchen

Many homeowners avoid using white in the kitchen for a good number of reasons. Some worry that it gets dirty easily and others find it too plain and boring. Let Heart’s kitchen change your mind. An all-white color scheme gives the space a clean and organized look that you can easily recreate at home.

If white looks too bare for you, you can inject pops of color through vibrant kitchen accessories and décor pieces. You can also decorate the space with fresh flowers and plants.

Have an accent wall

Who would miss the lovely painted ceiling in Heart’s bedroom? The clear blue skies and fluffy clouds lend a calming and relaxing feel to the room.

If you’re not yet ready to add patterns to your ceiling, you can work on one wall instead. Create an accent wall with interesting patterns or paint it with a solid color that complements your furniture and interiors. Those who are ready to experiment can work with a mural or if this is too drastic, you can create a photo wall instead.

Craft a special storage solution for your accessories

Heart’s walk-in closet is every girl’s dream with pink and white stripes, and well-organized clothes, shoes, and bags. But what really caught our attention is the cabinet where the artist keeps her accessories. It has a special spot for rings; rods and hooks for necklaces and bracelets; and mini drawers for her other trinkets.

You can create a similar organizer using a corkboard, drawer pulls and knobs, and a few nails! Click here for the complete guide.

Create a special place for your hobbies

We believe that Heart loves spending her free time in this area where she can work on her art and paintings. The area features an abundance of natural light, storage for her supplies, and enough space where she can work comfortably.

If you also love to draw and paint like Heart, you can turn a corner of your home into a mini studio. Make use of natural light, if possible, and place your desk or canvas by the window. Proper lighting is important so make sure you invest in quality light fixtures, too!

RL Tip: Do you collect books and find joy in reading? Achieve your own reading corner or mini library by transforming a corner of your bedroom into a cozy nook! Place a shelf to keep your books in place, add a lamp, and a comfy chair. You can use a rug to separate it from the rest of your room and to anchor the area.
