5 Color Ideas For Your Ceiling

The underside of your roof can act as an accent to your space, too

We can no longer count how many times we've said it before: paint can instantly transform a space. However, it's not just the walls of our home we have to worry about—we need to take the ceiling into consideration, too. After all, these overhead panels have the power to pull together the look of a room. To help you make a decision, here are a few ideas you can try:

1. White

It's no suprise that this milky hue is a common choice among homeowners. Since it is a non-color, you don't have to think about undertones and you can go with whichever paint you like. It makes bright shades on walls pop so they become much more of a focal point, too.

2. Pastel hues

Remember, light and sweet tones make for an airy space. If you've decided to go with a heavy tint on your walls, balance it out with the lightest version of the same color for your ceiling to keep the feel of the room free-flowing.

3. Neutrals

As long as it falls under the spectrum of neutrals, feel free to use it! Shades like beige, khaki, cream and off-white can match almost anything, therefore you can change the look of an entire room without tweaking the ceiling. Make sure to choose a flat finish so no light reflects off of it, keeping the look subtle.

4. Stone gray

Black is a classic if you like to dabble in deep shades but using it on the ceiling might make the room look cramped. If you're set on using a dark color, consider stone gray—it can be considered neutral while still being dramatic enough to set the tone of the space.

5. Neon

If you're adventurous with decor, experiment and go with a bold choice like neon. This design upgrade can transform the entire look of a space completely—you may want to avoid it if you aren't into major makeovers.
