5 Classic Color Schemes For Your Living Room

These tried and tested palettes create tranquil spaces that ooze with style

Neutrals are no-fail go-tos. After all, they are called such because they can be paired with almost all colors. If you don’t want to go loud in your living area, consider a toned down color scheme. Here are some ideas:

1. Black and white

A black-and-white living area is timeless. It doesn’t go out of style. Change the look from time to time by adding accessories with a bit of color or patterns that follow the same black-and-white scheme.

2. Olive green and brown

Add an earthy feel by using shades of green with gray undertones, like olive green, and dark shades of brown. Throw in a few accessories in light, neutral tints to keep the place from looking dark and lifeless. You can also add mirrored or metallic acccessories to create an elegant look.

3. Gray with other neutrals

Gray is a versatile neutral. It is not as high maintenance. It is moody yet it is not as dramatic and strong as black. Keep the space from looking bland by accessorizing with both light and dark neutrals to create variety.

3. White

White suits modern interiors because it appeals to the clean-lined aesthetic of those spaces. In this house, the living area is situated in the middle of an expansive space. Sparse decor and accessories turn the focus on the pristine living area—a statement all by itself.

5. Brown and white or beige

This color palette is commonly seen in contemporary Filipino homes, where hardwood furniture pieces are often used and matched with beige or white seating pieces. Enhance this look by choosing wooden pieces with visible grains and adding warmth by way of a sisal rug.
