Check your interiors

Before visiting furniture stores, make sure that you have already finalized the look that you want. Do you like simple yet classy pieces or do you like vintage furniture? By knowing the style that you prefer, you can further narrow down your choices and options.

“When I buy furniture, I first make sure that it suits my interior. As long as it fits my concept and design, it’s usually a deal,” shares interior designer Hannah Acab-Faustino.

Opt for good materials

“Just because it looks nice means it will withstand the test of time. Invest in good quality furniture and consider handing it down as heirloom to your kids,” Hannah says. Good materials ensure quality that can last a long time.

Prioritize function

Always think of how you will use it and how it will be maximized. Avoid buying a bulky yet stylish table that can take up most of the given floor space. Pick chic and functional items, like storage ottomans.

Before purchasing any piece for the house, always think of its purpose and quality. Never decide on aesthetics alone.

Always have options

If you found an ideal piece that fits your home but it goes beyond your budget, always look for options.

“I support small-time furniture makers like those from Ilocos, Pampanga, and Laguna because they have good materials and they don’t cut corners," shares interior designer Kat Villanueva. Be on the lookout for cheaper yet quality finds. Don't settle for the first piece that you see. Schedule a day for window shopping so you can drop by different stores and take note of price points.

RL Tip: You can always go thrift shopping! Breathe new life into your secondhand find by repainting or reupholstering it.
