If given the chance, we're sure that most of us would love to have a home that's serene, relaxing, and reminiscent of a beachside cottage. And why not? A tranquil home can calm your nerves after a hard day's work, plus it's airy and spacious that you can accommodate friends and relatives for simple get-togethers.

When transforming your home into a tropical-inspired haven, you may want to start with your bedroom first since it's the place where you unwind and stay most of the time. Here are easy-to-do ideas to guide you:

Go for relaxing colors

According to the psychology of color, the right palette can help improve your mood and the vibe of a space. Since the bedroom is the special area at home where you rest and relax, it is only fitting that you use soothing colors. You can consider having blue or green walls to create a serene atmosphere. Pair your walls with neutral-colored accessories and wooden elements.

Add plants

A tropical-inspired look won't be complete without a few plants. Consider adding potted succulents or keeping a vase of fresh flowers for a refreshing touch. If your bedroom has a balcony, you can also add bamboo and ferns in the area as these plants help improve air circulation at home.

Invest in eco-friendly materials

According to Architect Joven Ignacio, Bamboo, nipa, rattan, and jemelina wood are trademark materials for tropical homes in the Philippines. To complete the look of your room, you must be ready to invest in these materials. Keep in mind that aside from being eco-friendly, these can also last for a long time—with proper maintenance, of course.

Invite the outdoors in

To bring nature into your room, you may opt to have bigger windows that let the sunlight in. Maintain privacy by opting for sheer white or light-colored curtains.
