Opt for pieces that help make the room bigger and more spacious. Let these tips guide you

Given the limited space, one area of the house may end up serving two or or more purposes. In some small homes, the living area may also function as a home office or an extension of the dining area.

To be able to deal with small space challenges, you can always do some space-saving tricks and work with multipurpose items. Let these four tips guide you.

Don't go for the standard sala set

Instead of buying a “sala set” with matching sofa and armchairs, you may buy your pieces separately. Consider having old pieces reupholstered and experiment with different colors and textures. Doing this creates visual variety in your living area, thereby enhancing the overall look of the space.

Opt for armless chairs

An armless chair gives you more space to work with. It also appears to be less obtrusive—allowing unhindered movement for you and your guests.

Mix-and-match side tables

Side tables don’t have to be matchy-matchy. Create an eclectic vibe at home by working with pieces with different styles or materials. You may pair glass pieces with wood ones. Just make sure that they are of the same height, and that they don’t overcrowd the living area.

Create a relaxing ambiance

Ambient lighting is a must in every small living area! Adding lamps or pin lights will add a cozy vibe and even brighten the dark corners in your space. Placing lamps on your side tables can also help set the mood in an area.
