Christmas has always been defined by the iconic combination of red, green, and white. From time to time, it's refreshing to see others experiment with gold, silver, and even blue or purple as part of their color palette at home.

If you are also looking for options, design professionals Rochelle Granali, Peaches de Guzman-Grey, and Grace Moslares share a couple of practical tips:

Try a sleek palette combined with an accent color

Create an elegant look by working with white and silver touches. “You may even use one accent color such as royal or turquoise blue to make your interiors look classy. Don’t forget to decorate your Christmas tree with proper use of proportion and scaling of the ornaments to avoid [a cluttered look],” shares interior designer Rochelle Granali.

Work with your favorite colors

“Anything that you feel like putting as decor for your tree will work as long as you love seeing it,” says design consultant Grace Moslares. Experiment by aiming for a modern Christmas look by playing around with different shades of your favorite color. Keep the classic Christmas vibe by adding one or two gold and silver accents.

Update the look of the traditional style

“Go for a modern Pinoy theme with rustic accents. You can use small wooden trinkets, weaves, and hang sweets and chocolates on your tree. The possibilities are endless," explains interior designer Peaches de Guzman-Grey.  A tree adorned with sweets and chocolates can serve as the best surprise for guests and relatives who are staying with you over the holiday break.

Create contrast

Your chosen Christmas decor and accessories can help create an impact and up the ante of the holiday vibe at home. “If you have a gold or silver tree—try [accessorizing it with] magenta flowers and ribbons with splashes of purple balls to make it stand out," suggests Grace.
