There's something about the rustic style that makes it a favorite of many. It can be the warmth that it adds to any space or how a simple setup can make an impact. This Christmas, aside from opting for the traditional red-white-and-green combo, you may want to add a few rustic touches! It's easy to pull off, plus, it can add a homey vibe to your space, that's perfect for the season.

Go for neutrals

Neutrals always make for a homey and inviting tableau. Liven it up by injecting hints of gold—steal from last year’s box of Christmas décor to create a unique and cozy setup.

Play with different textures

The key to pulling this look off is to use different shades and textures to keep your table setting from looking staid. Go for different shades of brown, and soften up wood pieces with placemats and table runners in graphic, tribal fabrics.

Pick pieces that you already have

No need to buy new décor pieces! Work with found objects and other items in your cupboard like earthenware mugs, a chopping board, a throw, twigs, and old Christmas decor, too! Add pine cones for a charming touch.

RL Tip: For affordable rustic finds, drop by Dapitan Arcade at Dapitan corner Kanlaon Streets in Quezon City—and don’t forget to haggle!

Be crafty

You can add personalized touches by working with easy gold touches! Use a canister of gold spray paint (try RJ London 18kt Gold spray paint, available in Handyman) and paint twigs and small rocks. Once dry, these pieces can work as tabletop decor or as part of your centerpiece.
