4 Quick Tips for a Smart Kitchen Renovation
Get the most bang for your buck with these ideas
Once you've finalized your renovation budget, you don't instantly start a renovation project! You need to allocate your budget accordingly and start with basic updates first. Efficient planning is important in any construction or renovation undertaking.
To help you get started, here are practical tips that you may want to consider to improve your cooking area without hurting your pocket:
Start with the basics
Before thinking about a theme and the colors to be used, you need to prioritize areas for improvement and what needs to be fixed in the space. Check the fixtures if they are working properly. Do you need to work on the ceiling? Is the plumbing system working just fine? Once you've identified these areas and items, you can move on to the design and aesthetics.
Consider having a stylish backsplash
A captivating backsplash can liven up any tiny kitchen space. If you're considering having one in your space, opt for durable finishes. Go for colors like orange and red as these hues exude a positive vibe as well as help stimulate the appetite.

Pick the right color scheme
If you love to cook, make sure you choose colors that you like and at the same time work well with the overall theme of your space. If you're painting your cabinets (or walls) by yourself, you need to test the paint first and do some prep work!
Make a small kitchen look visually larger by adding mirrors. According to design consultant Gwyn Guanzon, a row of mirrors on one side of the kitchen makes a narrow area appear wider.
RL Tip: Be cautious where you place the mirrors. Don't hang a mirror in front of a cluttered space as this will only double the mess and make your space look cramped.
