4 Things to Love in Altheo Decors
This thrift shop in Kamuning is a treasure trove of old-world finds
Thrift shops are great sources of vintage pieces and antiques. If you love to collect unusual knickknacks, we're sure that you already have a go-to shop each time you're thinking of adding another focal piece at home. Altheo Decors in Kamuning, named after its owners Alda and Theo Demata, is heaven-sent for those who love kitschy accessories.
The store offers a hodgepodge of items so it's easy to get overwhelmed. But if you have a list of specific things you are looking for, all you need to do is navigate through the place and look for what you need among the piles. To give you an idea on what to expect, here are things you might fancy too:
1. Crystal Chandeliers
Add an old-world glam into your home using these crystal chandeliers. If you have a high ceiling, you can pick those with several tiers to emphasize ceiling height. Crystal chandeliers also make for elegant decor in the dining area, especially if you have a long dining table to match.
2. Old Glass Lamps
Travel back in time by putting a glass, oil lamp in your home office. Complement it with fountain pens and leather notebooks to keep with the centuries-ago look. If you have an escritoire (old writing desk), the better, but if you don't have one, an unpolished, wooden desk will do.
3. Tableware made of carnival glass
The production of carnival glass dates back to the early 1900s, introduced by glass company Fenton. Add these historic pieces to your home by creating an elegant dining setup using at least three pieces. You can also use carnival glass tableware to decorate your buffet table when not in use.
4. Antique Chairs
Kamuning is also a haven for those who love to collect antique furniture. Find one to your liking at Altheo Decors. Check them out by the store entrance, but feel free to come inside to sift through the store's many offerings.
Altheo Decors is located at 103 Kamuning Road, Quezon City, tel. (02) 352-2950.
