Since the kitchen is a busy area, it is important that it's kept clean and organized. If you're having problems keeping clutter at bay, there's no need to worry! You can always start with simple, basic steps.

Here are four easy ways to control clutter in the kitchen.

Clear your counters

When you get used to just placing things on countertops, you’ll eventually be left with no area to work on.

Solution: Maximize your cabinets! Place only the most-used items on the countertop like knives in a block or utensils in a cylinder. Keep kitchen appliances and condiments inside the cabinets.

Follow the First-In-First-Out rule

Never worry about expiration dates again! When you follow the First-In-First-Out rule, you’ll be sure to use up items as you buy them. To do this, line items in rows and by type. Place older items in the front and newer items at the back.

Solution: You may also add labels with dates on each item. Click here to learn more.

Maximize available space

You’ll be surprised how much extra space there is inside your cabinets! Make sure you maximize your cabinet space by fixing your dinnerware properly. Place ceramic plates together and stack cups and saucers in one, to create a unified space.

Solution: Add extra organizers inside your cabinets! A plastic drawer organizer can keep utensils organized while hooks can be used to hang cups and mugs. Click here to learn more.

Hide the eyesores

Once organized, your kitchen will look clean. Don't ruin it by displaying ugly things out in the open. Keep dirty rags within reach, but hidden from plain sight.

Solution: Pour dishwashing liquid into a nice bottle, and hang sponges in a rack that can be attached to the inside of the sink.
