4 Lovely Ways To Style A Bed On The Floor
You can make this look work, too!
Whether you've just moved out of a dorm, trying out a more minimalist aesthetic or simply haven't found the perfect piece yet—chances are, at some point, you'll find yourself with only a mattress plopped on the floor. No need to worry as not owning a frame doesn't mean you need to settle with a sloppy and unfinished look for your boudoir. To help you out, we've rounded up four simple design ideas you can try!
1. Anchor the bed with color.
In order to trick the eye into thinking that the bed is meant to be on the floor, consider using vibrant hues to create the illusion of lower panels. Try painting or installing wallpaper to a part of the wall, stopping at the height of a standard bed frame. You can also use sheets in similar shades to further streamline the look.
2. Build a canopy around it.
If you aren't too keen about repainting your bedroom walls, you can try constructing a DIY canopy to establish your sleeping space. Feel free to choose between fabric canopies or a solid oak unit.
RL Tip: For an extra whimsical touch, you can decorate your bed frame with string lights, too!
3. Use plush bedding and pillows.
Divert attention from the mattress by dressing up the bed in eye-catching sheets and pillows. Try mixing darker colors with warm tones to add some depth into your display and propping up larger pillows against the wall to serve as a headboard.
4. Add a faux-headboard.
The easiest way to make sure the bed doesn't look out of place is by adding a faux-headboard. You can use anything to cop the look—try painted wooden palettes or even a framed print of your favorite art piece.
