4 Layout Tricks for Small Spaces
Proper layout can help you maximize a small home
Small homes are challenging—especially if you have many furniture pieces and things to keep organized. However, proper space planning and layout can do a lot of difference.
A well-thought-out layout can help you achieve a space that's functional and clutter-free. Let these four tips inspire and guide you.
Place windows at highly used areas
Doing this allows natural light to stream into the space. This will work well in the living and dining areas. Pick windows and window treatments that are easy to open so air can properly circulate around the house.

Move the bed
Is it hard to move around your room? Consider placing the bed horizontally against the wall as if it were a daybed to give you more space. If you want to maximize your area even more, you may also elevate the bed and use the space underneath as storage area.

Clear entry areas
Your tiny home will look smaller if you have clutter all over the space. As much as possible, control clutter by having catchalls and shelves where you can place your essentials. For your foyer or entryway, consider having a console table where you can leave shoes, slippers, and other must-haves.

Use big furniture pieces to define areas at home
Pieces like the sofa, shelves, and console tables can help you separate areas in a small unit. Keep in mind though that pushing all your furniture against the walls can give an appearance of a tighter space. Leave just a bit of room behind a sofa so your eyes can get a sense that the space is airy.
