Are you a home-based worker? We're sure that the number one challenge that you need to face would be to resist the temptation of crawling back to bed.

If you're having a hard time focusing on work, you may want to rethink your habits and the layout of your space. Let these four practical ideas guide you:

Schedule your work and errands

When working at home, some of us have the tendency of doing two things all at once. Do you try to squeeze in some work while doing the laundry? We may think that this is efficient but the results may not be beneficial for you. You can get exhausted plus it may result into a half-baked work output. Schedule all of your tasks and make sure you stick to it. Doing so will make it easier for you to finish tasks efficiently while still giving you enough time for rest and relaxation.

Set up an effective area

Find a nook at home where you can set up your work area. As much as possible, avoid busy areas like the living and dining areas. Consider turning an extra closet into an office space or an awkward nook into a work area. Make sure it is well-lit and that you have a desk, a comfortable chair, and a table lamp.

If you live in a small space and it's inevitable for you to set up your desk in the bedroom, create a practical space that's a bit far from your bed so you won't be tempted to sleep or work there.

Add an inspiring backdrop

Once you’ve found the perfect space, what’s next? It’s essential to make your home office as personalized as possible so you'll be motivated to work. Add a dream or vision board filled with photos of your loved ones, your favorite things, quotes, and other must-haves that will surely inspire you to work well. You can also spruce up an empty wall with charming wall decals.

Don't forget to treat yourself

What motivates you? Do you look forward to a series or movie marathon after working? Or do you reward yourself with your favorite ice cream or cake? Set a goal for yourself and make sure you treat yourself once you've achieved that goal. See a movie or visit your favorite space after a hard day's work—you deserve it!
