4 Home Upgrades that are Worth Spending Money On
Spend your time and money wisely with these mini makeovers
When planning a simple room redo or a major room makeover, having enough budget is important. Keep in mind that aside from the actual money that you will spend, you also need to have a contingency fund. However, there are home improvement projects that are worth it! “Home upgrades that are worth spending money on are those that are functional and those that may help improve your quality of life," shares interior designer Peaches de Guzman-Grey.
This weekend, make the most of the two days by working on a couple of easy mini makeovers. Here are four updates that you can do.
Give your walls a new color
A fresh coat of paint can add a dramatic effect in any space. If you've had the same color on your walls for five years or more, maybe it's time to change things up. Consider colors like blue to help you get a good night's sleep. If you want a neutral look, you may experiment with sage green or cream. Familiarize yourself with color psychology to help you choose the perfect color.
Update your bed
Enjoy a relaxing slumber by having a sturdy bed frame and a high-quality mattress. You will surely love coming home to a comfy bed with crisp sheets and a clean comforter. Make sure you change your sheets at least every two weeks.
Add more storage
“As homeowners, we continue to acquire things over time. Sometimes our items tend to end up as clutter, without proper storage,” Peaches explains. To make your home organized, try studying the areas where you need more space. If it’s your living area, opt for multipurpose furniture like ottomans. If it’s your bathroom, consider having an overhead storage or wall-mounted shelves.
Replace your light fixtures
The lighting of your home can affect the overall mood in your space. Try replacing your light bulbs with energy-saving LED lights. Doing this helps the environment while keeping your electric bill low.
