Every homeowner dreams of having a well-designed space filled with quality pieces and personal touches. Aside from making sure that the house if fully furnished, you also need to think about how you can make it more homey and lived-in.

To help you improve your home, we asked 4 design professionals to share with us a list of must-dos to truly turn a house into a home:

Allot a space for your hobbies and the things you love

To personalize your room and to make it even more relaxing, you should have a corner where you can showcase your collections and favorite things.

“You can assign a shelf in your bedroom for your prized collections, or a mini coffee/tea area with two chairs and a side table if space allows,” shares interior designer Hannah Acab-Faustino. “Keep in mind the size of your room before considering adding nooks or specialty areas to avoid clutter.”

Use natural fragrances

Natural scents and oils can help you relax and sleep better! Chamomile has a light scent that can help relieve anxiety, tension, and insomnia. "You may place fragrances or scented candles inside the bathroom, but keep it at a safe distance from flammable items," says interior designer Evangeline Lim.

Opt for proper lighting

A warm ambiance is important when it comes to creating a comfortable space. “Proper lighting is the use of white and warm lights where they are needed. Choose cove lights or pin lights for a hotel-like feel,” suggests interior designer Joy Jabile-Ejercito.

Invest in a good bed

“Everybody needs a good night’s sleep. You need a bed with a high- quality mattress to sleep in. Before purchasing one, always check the type of fabric, foam, and framing. Also, opt for sheets made from good quality material. Cotton is the most popular fiber in sheets because it is comfy, easy to clean, and breathable,” explains interior designer Peaches de Guzman-Grey.
