If you have a small garden at home yet you still want to add more greens, you can always work with climbing plants. These plants grow vertically so they don't take up too much space. Here are three more reasons why these plants are must-haves for your space.

It can serve as a focal point

Use these plants to turn architectural details into focal points. Structures like arbors or arches can draw much attention when complemented with vibrant flowing climbers.

It can be used as a shade

When placed in arches or trellises, plants can give shade to patios or terraces. For this purpose, you can choose a variety that has lush flowers to add an accent to your space. You may opt to add a Phillippine Jade (Strongylodon macrobotrys) or a New Guinea creeper (Mucuna bennettii) to spruce up your outdoor area.

It can act as a screen

Climbers can be used as screens to add privacy to your space. They can also hide eyesores and unsightly structures in your garden such as water tanks or potting sheds. The Creeping Fig is commonly used to conceal concrete walls that are unattractive.
