Nothing can be more energizing than having bright colors in a space. Oranges, yellows—they have that zing that simply awakens our senses. However, your space has the danger of looking juvenile if you use these colors carelessly. To avoid this, here are some tips to help you:

1. Mix these colors with textured pieces.

Aside from adding warmth to this living area, these woven baskets also help tone down the brights and add a grownup element. A floor pillow with faux fur also adds texture and keeps the space from looking flat. Meanwhile, a few colorful artworks add more bright pops but are subtle enough to let the citrus hues shine.

2. Put them against a white background.

Aside from being the perfect blank canvas, white in combination with oranges, greens, and yellows creates a happy-looking space. It’s great for families with kids (without making the space look kiddie).

3. Do away with patterns.

To avoid making an area look too busy, choose brightly colored but plain pieces and accessories. In this bedroom, the colors themselves make a statement even without the presence of bold prints and patterns.
