3 Ways to Lower Electricity Costs
Keep in mind these air conditioning basics
Given our climate, there are days when we can't help but use the A/C all day. When the monthly electricity bill arrives, we're greeted with high costs that will take up a huge chunk of the home budget.
If there's no choice but to use the A/C unit, you can reduce costs with a few tips. Keep in mind these reminders from architect Nerisse Sotto:
Opt for inverter types
"Inverter types, although more expensive, are more energy-efficient than non-inverter ones, especially when used longer and more frequently in living rooms and bedrooms. For guest rooms, homeowners may opt for non-inverter types," Nerisse shares.
Install the unit in a strategic spot
Location is an important consideration that you need to keep in mind since you need to think about air circulation. "Do not place the air conditioner across a door so there's better air circulation. This also prevents cold air from escaping the room every time someone opens the door," the architect suggests.
Choose the right horsepower
To be able to pick the best product for your space, consult your A/C provider to know the right horsepower of the unit relative to the size of the room where you want it installed in. As much as possible, avoid overworking the air conditioning units.
