3 Tips on Combining Home Styles
Still haven't decided on the look of your home? Keep in mind these expert tips
With different styles to choose from, it can be hard to stick to just one style for your home. If you've always wanted an eclectic style but you also love the colors of tropical homes, you can combine these two elements! Interior designer Kimi Manuel shares a few tips to help you get started.
Don't be afraid to experiment
You can achieve a unique style by experimenting on what works. For example, you can use a Filipino theme as primary style then inject edgy, unfinished surfaces like polished concrete floors and exposed metal furniture legs. Doing so gives your space an industrial touch. Make sure you leave some areas simple to allow other elements in the room to stand out.
Think of proportion
When mixing different styles together, you have to consider balance. Pick one main style and one secondary style and use these in significantly less proportions. This will help you achieve a balanced look and will avoid a clash of styles. For example, if you're going for the Scandinavian style, you can make it a bit more playful by combining it with pastel accents.

Use the color wheel
Color plays an important role because it dictates the mood of your space. Make sure that the two styles you choose match and work well together. When working with colors, try consulting the color wheel first. Consider using two colors on opposite sides of the color wheel. Complementary shades work well when combined in one area at home.
