3 Solutions for a Small Bathroom
Interior designer Peaches de Guzman-Grey shares a few ideas on how to make a small space appear more spacious
Living in a small space can be extra challenging—especially if you have tons of stuff that you need to fit inside a limited area. Aside from decluttering and editing the things you need, there are also space-saving solutions that you can try. These tips also apply to the different areas at home, including the bathroom.
If you are troubled by your tiny bathroom, there are easy ideas that you can do to improve the space. Consider these must-dos that you can invest in:
Focus on the walls
Given the limited area, trick the eye by using tiles with patterns or light-colored pieces on your walls. This will drive attention to your walls instead of the floor area. You can also install mirrors or make use of reflective surfaces to visually enhance the space.
Use different materials
You can make your bathroom look a bit bigger by using materials that are distinct and unique from each other to separate areas. Consider using metal fixtures for the sink against wooden flooring—doing so will separate and differentiate these areas.
Play with lighting
“Lighting is almost always the trick to making spaces appear bigger,” says Peaches. What you can do is to combine both pendant and natural lighting to achieve drama. Allow the bathroom to "breathe" by opening the windows during daytime.
