There comes a point when we simply want to change how our space looks. From rearranging the furniture to repainting the walls, we're always ready to make it more inviting and almost perfect. Since we're talking about the whole house, we shouldn't neglect one of the most used areas at home: the bathroom!

To help you get through the challenge of improving your private space, architects Anthony Yan and Paul Peña share these tips:

Consider the location of the fixtures

The focus of your bathroom's design should be the location of the different fixtures such as the faucets, shower, lavatory, and water closets to ensure comfort. If you're not so sure about the location of your fixtures, you can always consult with a professional. This will help you achieve an efficient space that also prioritizes health and sanitary factors.

Put importance on the proper installation of pipes and fittings for the entire sewer system

"Once na-place na lahat ng tiles pero you didn't make sure that the waterproofing is okay, you will spend double, kasi you will need to remove the tiles and fixtures again," explains Paul. Given this, waterproofing should be your first priority.

Have a secure waterproofing system

We're sure that you don't want water leaking out of the bathroom, right? “In construction, it is important to have a secure waterproofing system, and the slope of the flooring must be ensured to prevent the water from pooling and from leaking out of the bathroom,” says Anthony.
