White, Gray, and Black

“The three best neutrals for me are white, grays (preferably taupe and ecru), and a bit of black as accent to give depth. For neutrals, I usually refer to Ralph Lauren paint swatches. They have a wider range of gradation especially for neutrals.” — Athena Maramag, junior designer of Design Hirayama+Quesada

RL Tip: The stylish contrast between dark and light gray create a youthful and elegant vibe in any home. Try painting your walls with alternating vertical stripes to create an illusion of a bigger space.

White, Beige, and Dark Gray

“The neutral colors I often use in interiors are white, beige, and dark gray. For paints, Boysen or Davies are good brands to use. However, I do not have a specific color code because my choice of paint color varies, depending on the intensity of the color I want to use for an area.” — Pauline La’O, interior designer

RL Tip: Experiment with patterns! Create contrast by adding a checkered throw or chevron-striped pillows on your sofa.

Yellowish White, Gray, and Mocha

“The best neutral colors for me are white with a hint of yellow, light gray, mocha or tan. For neutrals used as an accent, dark shades of grayish brown and black brown are good options.” — Richelle Baria, architect

RL Tip: Neutrals in natural shades like brown and cream work well with other colors. Pair a wooden bed frame with vibrant sheets or consider placing a lamp with pastel-colored lampshade on your bedside table.

Yellow (Ace Paint- New Canvass E40), Light Gray (Ace Paint-Italian Marble D12-2), Mocha or Tan (Ace Paint-Peanut Brittle C20-6 and Ace Paint-Toasty Tan D18-5), Dark Shades of Grayish Brown (Ace Paint- Wool Coat D12-5, Ace Paint-Milkweed Pod D11-6), and Black Brown (Ace Paint-Beer Barrel).
