The living area is not just the space where you can welcome and entertain friends and guests. It also serves as an entertainment area and an extension of the dining room, too! To ensure the comfort of the whole family and your visitors, you can style it like a pro! Interior designers Evangeline Lim and Leatrice Lu share these tips:

Pick pieces and accessories depending on the size of your space

Make sure you measure your space first before you purchase pieces for the home. You wouldn't want a huge sofa or table to take over the entire living area! "If you have a high ceiling (at least 2.7m), a nice hanging fixture can add dimension. If the area is small, ditch the coffee table and buy nice ottomans. They provide extra seating, and can double as makeshift coffee tables," Leatrice suggests.

Opt for stylish but durable pieces

"To easily change the style of your living room, opt for neutral pieces such as a three-seater sofa, and have a conventional coffee table," shares Evangeline.

Achieve a new look through accessories

You can still the update the look of your living area while staying within your budget. You may invest in colorful accessories and soft furnishings. "In case you're in the mood to change the look of your living room, just go bold with your throw pillows, accessories, or even your area rug. That way, you don't need to change those bulky furniture pieces," explains Evangeline.
