3 Easy Steps To Revive An Old Console
You don't need to have extraordinary DIY skills to accomplish this
Do you have old furniture lying around that you want to discard? Think twice before doing so. What if you can give it a new life? "Sometimes, the only thing an old furniture needs is a fresh coat of paint," says architect Allen Oblena. In this DIY project, he shares how to revive an old console table with these steps:
1. Sand down the table to make the surface smooth and to remove the old paint.
2. Apply paint primer to prep the surface for new paint.
3. To create a rustic look, lightly dip the paint brush into the paint, then drag the brush on the surface of the furniture. This will result in a rough finish, where the wood still shows through. This technique is called the dry brush technique.
Once it's dry, spruce it up with a vase of flowers and framed photographs. Place it by the foyer or in the living area.
