There are countless ways on how you can spruce up, organize, and clean a bathroom. But no matter how beautiful your bathroom is, if it isn’t comfortable or if it doesn’t reflect your needs and personality, it won’t be as functional as it should be. Get tips on how to create a bathroom that suits different stages of your life with these handy ideas:

1. Simple and elegant

Choose décor and accessories with feminine curves, but they don’t have to be dramatic. Repurpose things found around your house, like a small cupcake stand turned into soap dish, glass canisters for storing cotton balls and makeup sponges, and a small saucer to corral small accessories that you might leave in the bathroom.

Turn gift boxes into storage for towels and various beauty ephemera. You can also use a wicker basket instead of a plastic hamper—a basket instantly adds warmth to your loo and is prettier, too.

2. A kiddie bathroom

First and foremost, make sure that your kids’ bathroom is safe and functional. It should have no slippery spots or sharp edges that might cause injury. Place colorful plastic mats in the shower area or bathtub to prevent slips. Also, choose plastic accessories like dippers, plastic baskets, and toys.

Organize toiletries in a shower caddy. If more than one kid uses the bathroom, provide a shower caddy for each. Don’t forget to place a small stool in your kids’ bathroom to help them reach the sink or bathroom hooks and towel bars.

3. A family bathroom

If your family shares one bathroom, make sure it addresses the needs of each member. Go for neutral colors that each family member can appreciate. Create a specific spot for each member of the family, like one cubby hole for mom’s lotions, face creams, and makeup, and another one for dad’s shaving cream, razor, and facial wash.

Customize or bring in a wooden cabinet that can withstand moisture like teak or molave. And lastly, don’t be afraid to add simple décor like flowers and scented candles.
