Depending on the size and type of home, there are instances when sharing a room is inevitable. Whether your kids are sharing a space or you're sharing your room with the little ones, you need to create a bedroom that would meet your different needs. Achieve a beautifully efficient space with these must-dos:

Use a neutral shade as base then add pops of color as accent

Consider working with colors such as off white and gray for the walls then use red as accent. When choosing accessories, experiment with touches of wood and black.

Plan the layout

"Our room was only around 12 square meters, but it was more than enough for us. Most of the furniture were against the walls," says Kat. When planning your own room's layout, think about the pieces that you have and how you can fit everything. Stick to the basics and edit your furniture. Make sure you can move around freely without bumping into a table or chair—and most especially, into each other!

Choose leatherette and wooden furniture pieces

"They're sturdy and can easily be repaired and cleaned," says Kat, adding that parents should veer away from fabrics and laminates. Fabrics may need to be washed regularly to remove dirt and stains, while laminates have a weaker composition that cannot be refinished or refurbished.

Use wall-mounted hooks for storage

Hooks allow you to maximize vertical space while keeping your things organized. You can install hooks behind your bed or in one wall. Use it to hang decor, picture frames, bags, and other personal belongings.
