Many of us consider even the briefest of breaks a blessing for a good number of reasons. Others find time to breathe in between tasks, some squeeze in a quick meditation time, and others would make it a point to read just a few pages from a favorite book.

Whether you live in a condo or a three-storey home, we’re sure that you would want to have a quiet corner where you can simply stop and smell the flowers. Here are 10 well-loved outdoor nooks as seen in Real Homes that you might find interesting. Discover decorating ideas for your own space or be inspired to renovate your outdoor area! After all, a break from household chores in a snug and comfy area is a thrilling bonus that you can always look forward to:

10. A Garden in a Family Home in Alabang

Those who have a property with a spacious garden can invest in outdoor furniture that can withstand harsh elements. In this home, weathered wooden furniture pieces were chosen to match the overall theme of the house. The owners also added capiz star lights to illuminate the space at night.

9. A Charming Gazebo

Who wouldn't want to have a gazebo at home? It can serve as an extra dining area, a reading nook, or even as an office when you want to focus! This gazebo is special as the flooring is made from mahogany planks. If you have a gazebo, you can spruce it up with string lights and a group of mini potted plants.

8. A Garden and Duyan Combo in a Cavite Home

What better way to spend lazy afternoons than with a good book, a cold refreshment, and a few precious hours lounging on a duyan! If your house is surrounded by trees, you can secure your hammock in between two sturdy ones—similar to what the Catilo couple did in their garden.

7. A Quick Escape in the City

Some may think that it can be difficult to create a pocket of peace in the city. With your creativity and some ample space, you can turn your balcony into a charming green space! Turn it into an oasis by having a pocket garden or even a vertical one that maximizes blank walls. Complete the look by investing in sturdy furniture—similar to what can be seen in this condo unit.

6. A Scenic Garden in Antipolo

We can only imagine the numerous parties and get-togethers that the owners can host in this lovely open space! If you also have a similar area to work with, consider having patio umbrellas and shades so you can still enjoy even if it's too hot outside or there's a light drizzle.

Aside from the usual seating pieces that you can showcase outdoors, an unexpected touch is also a welcome idea. Take inspiration from this porch found in a Paranaque home. A swing was added—giving the area a playful and whimsical feel. As an alternative, you can also hang a hammock!

3. A Resort-Like Lanai

From the pieces, accessories, and fabrics—a distinct Asian inspiration can be seen in this space. Just one look and it will remind you of a calming resort by the sea! To create something similar, you can furnish your terrace or lanai with a banig, a few woven pieces, and throws with interesting colors and prints.

2. A Modern Tropical Lanai in Quezon City

To achieve a comfy and inviting space, this lanai features comfy daybeds and seating pieces. What we liked best about it is the effect of the climbing plants. It gives the area a wonderland feel—making it extra cozy and interesting. If you love the ambiance of this space, you may also experiment with different kinds of plants. Those who want to add extra seating pieces may want to get poufs and ottomans.

1. A Simple Garden at Home

This area proves that you can do a lot even with just one important piece. In this home, the owners simply placed a wooden patio chair in the garden to create a reading nook/lounge area. You can also do the same—but remember to add an umbrella as the weather can be unpredictable. A folding chair that can be easily moved is also a practical choice.
