RL News: Kelly Hoppen's New Bath Line
Real Living caught up with this famous designer to talk about her latest designs
At Singapore’s recently concluded Maison & Objet Asia, internationally renowned interior designer Kelly Hoppen MBE unveiled her designs for apaiser, an award-winning Australian bathware manufacturer.
Hoppen, who is known for her quietly elegant interiors, infused her own east-meets-west aesthetics into this new line of bathroom fixtures. “I love designing bathrooms…bathrooms are becoming big, because that is the only room, the only time you have for yourself,” says the designer. “That moment is your own.”
Her new collection includes artfully layered designs called Harmony, which resembles the lotus flower; Origami, which is inspired by Japanese paper folding art; and Bande, which have lines influenced by the Obi sash. All pieces have an artistic look and feel. “I wanted to create something like sculpture, so whether it was a bathtub or basin, it had to be something impressive and luxurious,” says Hoppen. “Working with apaiser, the texture is perfect and warm on your skin. You can’t stop touching them.”
