IKEA Philippines has recently announced that it will be opening its registration for IKEA Family on July 7, and membership is free—and they’re also raffling off P50,000 worth of shopping spree to boot!

But what exactly is the IKEA Family?

IKEA Family is a club that’s open to all who are interested in creating and upgrading their homes. Members can enjoy an array of benefits, discounts, and much more—and its also a way for you to let the company know if there are any products you want them to bring in or improve on.

In fact, it has a pretty interesting history. According to IKEA Singapore, the club was launched in 1984 in a department store in Linköping, Sweden, but the groundwork for it started in 1952, back when IKEA founder Ingvar Kamprad introduced the “Silver Club”.

The Silver Club was Ingvar’s way of connecting with his customers, helping IKEA create pieces that people actually needed and wanted. As it evolved into IKEA Family, the club hopes to keep that close relationship with fans and new customers alike, as well as to offer rewards and experiences that don’t necessarily have to be tied to the amount you spend in-store.

So, mark your calendars for IKEA’s Facebook event on the 7th! You may just get that shopping spree you’ve always wanted.
