5 Essential Bathroom Furniture

Keep your private space organized with these must-haves

Aside from picking the right layout and fixtures for your bathroom, having the right set of furniture is also important. Interior designer Peaches de Guzman-Grey shares with us this list of items that can help keep your bathroom clutter-free:

To keep the bathroom organized, add storage shelves by the toilet or lavatory. You may store reading materials, scented candles, and other essentials there.

RL Tip: Open shelves are ideal for storing items with various heights. Keep your bath towels stacked in a pile, to keep the space clean.

“Installing full-length mirrors may also be considered for your bathroom as it doubles as it creates an optical illusion—making the space appear bigger," Peaches suggests. A wall-mounted mirror may also come in handy when you put on makeup.

Adding a small table with a stool can create a vanity area that can accommodate your everyday essentials such as hair and skin care products. However, if you have a compact bathroom, consider adding a sink with a countertop, to save more space.

A versatile stool can be used as an aid for stability—especially if you have kids or elderly people at home. Use a wooden low step stool that is water-resistant to prevent accidental slips.

Medicine Cabinet

If you live in a small space, try installing a medicine cabinet above your sink where you can store daily essentials.

RL Tip: Choose a multipurpose cabinet with mirror.

How about listening to your favorite tune while having a bath? Consider adding an iPod dock or speakers in your private space. You can place it on top of a shelf so it won't get wet.

If you love watching movies, you may also install a TV inside your bathroom. Make sure you ask your interior designer as to where you can place it and ask inputs from your electrician, too.
