Top 5 Makeovers by Grace Moslares
This Makeover Month, get inspiration from these amazing transformations from one of RL’s fave Makeover Mavens!
Doing a room makeover can be a challenging task, but design consultant Grace Moslares and her team at Magara Designs prove that with creativity and an eye for reinvention, it's actually pretty fun and easy.
With her fondness for bright colors and her knack for cleverly upcycling existing pieces (plus a soft spot for the homeowners—they eventually become her friends!) Grace and her team could transform the most tired spaces into dreamy new homes, making her one of Real Living’s go-to designers. Here are our favorites:
A Surprise Bedroom Makeover for a Mother's 60th Birthday
For this special Mother’s Day Makeover from daughter Mara Gonzales to her mom Ludy, Grace went for a white-and-gray space for an updated, sophisticated look, with touches of purple and blue hues in the form of accessories and a painting by Jason Bonggat. To completely renovate the space, Grace repainted the cabinet and added wall-mounted shelves and drapes.
A Whole House P120,000 Makeover in Antipolo
With the desire to surprise her mom who worked abroad, homeowner Abby Flores was left in awe when Grace ended up renovating her entire home, when the initial plan was just to do a makeover of the living room! To save on budget, some of the old furniture were repurposed, and new bigger pieces like the sectional sofa were customized for the living area. For the dining area, an existing laminated dining set was replaced with a custom-made dining set with benches and chairs.
An Ultimate Makeover for an Ailing Father
This sentimental and touching makeover story takes us back to 2009, when design consultant Grace created a more comfortable home for the Jarabelo family, as the patriarch Lito Jarabelo had to undergo dialysis thrice a week. The couple and their four children lived in a small home with a low ceiling and termite infestation. Grace transformed it into a beautiful home in just a month.
New Look for an Old House in Taytay, Rizal
Back in 2009, young couple Adrian and Cherry Bondoc found out their son Bernard, had a rare lifelong medical disorder. Unfortunately, their home was not comfortable enough, as it had unfinished surfaces, and stray cats that left waste on the roof. With the help of engineer RJ Gutang and Probuilt Glazing, they were able to replace the roof. And in only two weeks, the home was transformed into a delightful sanctuary for Bernard, with colorful furniture and accessories from Crossings Home.
Last Year's Ultimate Makeover Winner
Grace does not only have an eye for design but also a heart full of compassion as she worked on the Quiboquibo couple's half-finished property to help accomplish their dream of building the ideal family home for their daughter Tisha, and their son Luigi, who was then sick with leukemia. With the help of Boysen paint, Handyman, and Townes, Grace upgraded the main living areas and created fun and colorful playrooms and bedrooms for the two kids.
