Since homeowner Ena raised her daughters Helene and Bianca on her own, her children felt that she deserved to have a relaxing and comfortable space. However, the living room of their 50-year-old house was too dark and dirty – in fact, it served as the home of their family dog. Instead of staying in the living area and entertaining their guests there, they would bond in the kitchen.

Interior designer Catherine Cena repainted the existing brick wall and decorated it with a wall mirror. She furnished the space with a sofa bed, ottoman stools, and a center table, all from Metro Gaisano.

Since the predominantly brown living room seemed drab and dark, Catherine painted the walls white and opted for refreshing blue and orange accents. While the area still has brown hues, the rich colors make the space seem airy and bright.
Catherine furnished the space with a fully-upholstered sofa bed, a reproduction Eames chair, and a pair of ottoman stools.
