For over 14 years, homeowner Maje has lived in the smallest bedroom of their family home. While she is happy to have a private space for herself, she has grown tired of the bright green walls. She also needed more storage solutions.

For the makeover, interior designer Vera Villarosa opted for soft, gray-blue for the walls and beige, white, and mocha for the furniture pieces and accessories. "I chose neutral colors so that the room will look spacious, maaliwalas, and dainty," says the designer. With the help of Formo Homes's contractor Nikki Bustos and architect Juan Esposo, Vera has created a chic and comforting space.

Though most of the room's old features were edited, Vera decided to retain the arched windows. She says, "I took from the architectural features of the room, so I emphasized the [windows'] design." She did this by leaving the top part of the windows exposed. To cover parts of the windows, Vera created Roman shades using a king size bed sheet from Crossings Department Store
Maje's old room featured a bed that lay perpendicular to the windows. This didn't leave enough space for movement. To address this problem, Vera placed a new custom-made bed against the wall with windows.

For a neat bedroom, Vera chose native woven baskets neatly tucked under the custom-made bed. The designer also brought in decorative, red storage boxes from Crossings Department Store for other belongings.
The old bulky desk was replaced with a small fitted closet, complete with enough shelves for Maje's books.
While the bed sheet with a delicate floral print turned into Roman shades, tree-shaped alarm clock, floral paintings, and woven baskets reflect Maje’s love for nature; the color scheme, birdcage lamp, and pillow prints remind her of traveling. The room is also decorated with the homeowner’s travel books and photos.
