In the home of Marco and Stephanie, one corner of the living room is used as a work and study area. A wooden divider separates the space from the rest of the home but it doesn’t provide enough privacy, making it harder for the family to concentrate on tasks and assignments. There was also not enough storage options for books, documents, and supplies.

To address these concerns, interior designer Vera Villarosa installed bookshelves and added an L-shaped desk system by Elfa from Howards Storage World that can accommodate two people. She also furnished the space with bins and organizers, small cork boards, and small decorative items like photo frames that add a personal touch to the area.

Interior designer Vera advises homeowners to build new shelving to accommodate books and reference material. She moved all of the office supplies scattered around the house to the new shelves to keep them all in one place.
To keep everything organized, Vera separated work documents from novels and personal files. Since the space is shared by the parents and children, she also designated personalized storage areas for each family member.
Vera installed two ceiling lights directly above the work area. She also chose an Elfa desk in a light color, white paint for the walls, and wallpaper in neutral shades with subtle color accents. This color scheme complements the existing mustard yellow walls of the living and dining areas.
Vera provided organizers for bins and containers to store pens, paper clips, papers, scissors, and other office supplies.

How Much It Costs:

Desk, storage bins, filing boxes, and other supplies - P 40,000
Labor and Materials
Assorted construction materials for shelves and reupholstery - P 40,000
Grand Total:
