Living Area, Kitchen, and Bedroom Makeovers in a 21sqm Condo
Interior designer Vivian Gacad turned a young couple's small space into a bright and beautiful home
Homeowners Chiqui and Jaypee invested in this 21sqm studio unit in Makati so that they would have a home close to work. However, the married couple did not know how to make their brand new condo look nice and feel comfortable.
Thankfully, interior designer Vivian Gacad knew just what to do! She chose a refreshing color scheme, installed built-in shelves, and brought in a few hidden storage options. The result is a space that looks chic, clean, and unmistakably cozy.

You would be surprised at how a few coats of paint can immediately brighten up your home! Vivian used white paint to spruce up the ceiling and walls in this studio unit.
The old black metal racks made the kitchen seem messy and cluttered. To make the cooking corner appear neat and organized, you can also replace the racks with wall-mounted laminated shelves! Built-in shelves look more sleek and streamlined.
The interior designer also created a nifty spice rack by attaching the bottoms of condiment bottles to the bottom of one shelf.
Remember the black metal racks? Vivian recycled them by turning them into dining table legs! Meanwhile, the table top is made of an old piece of plywood. Using leftover or discarded items to create new furniture pieces is an affordable and environmentally-friendly choice.
Since the couple did not have a proper dining area before, they can now use this dining table to enjoy meals and conversations together.
The interior designer replaced the unattractive bunk bed with an elevated bed. The concealed space underneath can now be used to store different belongings.
If you look closely, you would see that the green-and-white steps that lead to the new elevated bed are actually storage boxes! These hidden storage options are perfect for a 21sqm unit.
To make the elevated bed more inviting, the interior designer selected different throw pillows from Robinsons Department Store.
The interior designer created a vertical garden using a metal grid and small planters from Robinsons Department Store. The planters are filled with herbs like mint, basil, and parsley.
