Homeowners Franco, Jamie, and their five-year-old son Aki live in this humble and modest family home. Although the house is neat and organized, it lacked character and personality! It needed bright and playful colors and new furniture pieces.

Interior designer Kat Villanueva-Lopez painted the walls, put up wallpaper in one corner, and put up grid-like panels to separate the living area from the kitchen and dining areas. She also had the old sofa reupholstered and purchased items for the newly updated space.

The old three-part sectional sofa was too big for this living area. To make the piece perfect for this space, Kat removed one of the three parts.

She had the two remaining parts of the sofa reupholstered using blue curtains from Robinsons Department Store.

Kat completed the living area with two table lamps from Robinsons Department Store on two wooden side tables from Handyman.

Instead of a coffee table, Kat chose two black hampers and two brown hampers from Robinsons Department Store. These hampers can also be used to store Aki's toys and other belongings.

Kat used dog mats to create panels that would separate the living area from the kitchen and dining area! The family can also hang pictures and paintings on these dividers.

To improve the look of Aki's play area under the staircase, Kat chose damask-print wallpaper for one of the walls. She also installed a built-in white shelf and table.

Remember the third section removed from the sectional sofa in the living area? Kat had it reupholstered and moved to this space!
