It looks like those who live in the South may soon have an easier time getting around the Metro. The Department of Public Works and Highways announced on Friday, July 20 the opening of the three-lane, northbound section of Skyway Stage 3, which spans from Buendia Avenue to Java Street in Makati City. Motorists may now opt to exit the Skyway a kilometer further than Buendia through a temporary ramp near Java Street.

The newly opened section is the first to come for the Department of Public Works and Highways' Skyway Stage 3. The project, which began construction in 2014, aims to extend the Skyway with a six-lane expressway all the way to Balintawak, Quezon City. The project is divided into five sections, namely extensions to Quirino Avenue, Aurora Boulevard, Quezon Avenue, A. Bonifacio Avenue, and the North Luzon Expressway. Upon completion, the Skyway Stage 3 is slated to ease traffic within these major roads and thoroughfares.
