Drive Through These Places With Magical Christmas Light Displays in Metro Manila
Chirstmas is definitely going to be very different this year as quarantine restrictions continue due to COVID-19. While there will be a lot of rituals and experiences that we'll miss, there's still a way to honor timeless traditions. Many annual holiday shows and exhibitions have gone online--such as the Ayala Triangle Lights and Sounds show--which means you can still enjoy them from the comfort and safety of your own home. You can also drive through popular sights in the safety of your vehicle: as long as you continue following protocols and not head out and mill about crowded areas, you and your family are still very much free to take in the sights and sounds of the season.
Here are a few stops you may want to consider:
Ayala Avenue, Makati
You can always depend on Ayala Avenue being illuminated this time of the year. Parol dot the island and street lamps are beautifully decorated with capiz.
Bonifacio Shrine, Manila
Manila's newly-renovated Bonifacio Shrine offers a celebratory mood with its musical dancing fountain.
UP Diliman, Quezon City
UP Diliman's Christmas display honors the frontliners and victims of COVID-19 with the theme, “Abot-Kamay, Abot-Tanaw: Sulong sa Bago at Mas Mainam na Bukas.”
Bonifacio High Street, BGC, Taguig
Each year, folks look forward to the giant Christmas tree along 28th Street in pedestrian-friendly Bonifacio High Street. Although it is a shopping center (no kids allowed), there is an outdoor park that runs through 30th Street. And on weekends, certain parts of 5th Avenue are closed to vehicles this December.
