The Complete Renovation of a Bare Condo Unit
Inspired by IKEA catalogs, the owners successfully combined Scandinavian and tropical elements to create an inviting high-rise haven

Homeowners RJ and Louise knew from the get-go that they wanted to transform their three-bedroom unit in Ortigas into a space they can share with others. “We wanted the home to be bright, maaliwalas, peaceful, and relaxing,” they share. Taking inspiration from the resorts they’ve visited, IKEA catalogs, and different websites, they chose to work on a tropical meets Scandinavian aesthetic. The couple originally purchased four one-bedroom units and these were combined to create a 140sqm home.
With the help of interior designer Edna Chua, contractor Lorraine Tiu-Ching, and Jennie Go of CXF Design Center, the two meticulously worked on their dream space. They were involved every step of the way—from choosing materials to sourcing for pieces that will complete each area. After a six-month renovation period, the bare turned over unit became a calming abode dominated by white, gray, and wooden touches. See the inspiring transformation below:
