It all began with an internal struggle as homeowner Nyssa Noriel considered the possibility that the odds of getting a makeover was in her favor. Nyssa has been an avid reader of Real Living for many years, sharing that the site is the first thing she checks in the morning followed by Facebook. After seeing a makeover callout on RL's page, the homeowner debated whether or not she will submit her requirements.

With everything organized and sealed in a brown envelope; Nyssa still second-guessed herself, wondering if she’d have any chance of getting a coveted makeover at all. She struck a deal with the universe then, deciding to send in her file only if the Summit office was along their messenger’s route that day. “Grabe, blessing in disguise kasi nung araw na yun, meron siyang delivery sa bandang Mandaluyong! So yun, naisabay nya,” Nyssa excitedly recounts.

Time passed and as the months went by, the brown envelope was relegated to the back of her mind. Nakalimutan ko na sya kasi di nga ako umaasa,” she shares. As fate would have it, the odds were in fact in Nyssa’s favor. She eventually received a call from the Real Living team, informing her that her space had been chosen for the makeover. But the makeover wasn’t without its plot twists.

The initial space she’d specified in her submission had already been finished by that time, so the team decided to focus on the loft above the main living area instead. Real Living, together with Matimco, design consultant Grace Moslares and her team from Magara Designs took on the task of transforming the practically unlivable space into a fully functional and cozy living space for Nyssa, her husband, and their young son.

Matimco has always been a trusted brand in the Philippine construction and finishing industry since 1964. The brand shares a passion for wood with a common goal of fostering preference for sustainable, beautiful wood and other products that will increase the value of Filipino homes and nurture the environment as well.
