A Living and Dining Transformed in Less than 1 Week

What do Ms. Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach and this homeowner in Quezon City have in common?

Did you know that Ms. Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach joined the Bb. Pilipinas pageant three times before she finally won the crown? Much like Pia, homeowner Anna Africa joined the Real Living makeover contest three times before she finally won her own makeover.

To reward Anna for her passion, patience, and persistence, interior designer Michelle Dumlao-Pastoral completely changed her family's living, dining, and bodega — in only 7 days. Here are the 5 things that we can learn from this makeover:

Although Michelle initially planned to tear down the dining area walls, she eventually decided to just work with what they have! She installed wooden strips to separate the dining area from the rest of the space.

Since the living area was bare and empty, Michelle picked out a vibrant shade for the walls and a wooden chest of drawers from Mandaue Foam.

Michelle also picked out a love seat, a bench, a coffee table, and a plain rug. She also hung up framed photos of the homeowner and her family.

Do you need more motivation to donate or recycle things that you no longer use? You should get rid of unused things so that you can have enough space for a lanai. You can also turn the room into a home office or an entertainment area.

To make the lanai feel calm and relaxing, Michelle created a hanging garden! She purchased flat stones, dapo, horsetail, and bromeliads to liven up the space.
