If you’re in need of a push or just a few helpful insights to help you feel inspired, artist and best-selling author Abbey Sy shares her own creative journey and some of the things she learned along the way in her new book, Always Be Creating. One of the best things we love about the book is the chapter that featured Abbey’s workspace. As a creative, we’re sure it’s a must to have a nook where she can feel inspired and motivated. Also known as the ABC HQ, the workspace is a sacred spot for Abbey. “Over time, I’ve reorganized different elements to make it a conducive workspace for me,” she shares. What makes a workspace effective? Some of the elements she lists as musts include a desk lamp, a comfy chair, enough storage, and of course, a work table.

Sprucing up your own workspace? To help you keep your goals in check, you may want to have a mood board where you can showcase your plans for the year and the things you want to accomplish. If you love to travel, you can even put up a map so you can add pins on the places you’ve been to. Add pizzazz to your special corner by displaying prints and photographs you love. Showcase your personality and feel free to bring out some of your collections, too.
