You may have seen a proliferation of quiet, aesthetically pleasing vlogs of people just doing mundane things—eating, scrapbooking, reading a book—with detailed shots of their activities or surroundings without anyone talking.

These are silent vlogs. While these are popular in Japan and Korea, only a few content creators focus on this kind of format in the Philippines. One of them is Kristine Diane Cajes Rosal, who runs the vlog “Simple Dee.”

“When it comes to recovering from emotional and mental stresses, I think malaking tulong din po ‘yong nag-start ako ng silent vlog,” she tells Summit Media. “It’s not just for the viewer that they find peace and calm sa silent vlogs, kung ‘di sa akin din po as a creator. It’s like recovering, at the same time, sharing to your audience how you recover.”
