The nostalgia of one’s culture, especially when far away from home, is a comforting, bittersweet feeling; and when all of a sudden one gets the chance to experience something so close to what's missed, the following euphoria is nothing short of amazing.

Nostalgia and good Pinoy street food is what So Sarap NYC is all about, offering Filipinos in the U.S. a chance to experience the taste of home, and new customers a sampling of kalye cuisine.

“We started doing pop ups around Soho,” says VJ Navarro, one of the owners of So Sarap NYC. “Last year, we started with fishbolan, at saka isawan, at saka taho, at saka balot…”

“We wanted to bring the whole experience,” Kuya Dexter adds. “So we built the kariton , the sorbetero cart, we brought the taho containers from the Philippines, the balot basket.”
